Volunteer Efforts Link Hunger Relief and Environmental Protection
As a volunteer for the Nourish the Planet, Feed the Future campaign, I’ve come to realize something powerful: hunger and environmental destruction are not separate issues—they’re deeply connected. That’s why I’m so proud to support this incredible partnership between Amazon Watch and the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank through CauseCircle.
Each week, I help pack and distribute fresh, nutritious food to families in San Diego. Every time I see a child smile after receiving a bag of fruits and vegetables, I’m reminded that food is more than sustenance—it’s a right. But ensuring everyone has access to food doesn’t stop at distribution. It starts at the source—with our ecosystems.
That’s where Amazon Watch comes in. By protecting the Amazon rainforest and supporting Indigenous communities who have safeguarded it for generations, we’re defending the lungs of our planet. The Amazon plays a key role in regulating the global climate and ensuring the resilience of food systems everywhere—even here in San Diego.
This campaign connects those dots. By supporting local hunger relief while advocating for global environmental justice, we’re building a future where families are nourished and nature is respected.
Here’s how you can be part of the solution:
Donate to provide meals and support Indigenous defenders of the rainforest.
Volunteer to hand out food or educate others on sustainable living.
Share this story to raise awareness and rally more people to the cause.
We don’t have to choose between helping people and helping the planet. Together, we can do both. ud83c\udf0e💚🍆
