Story

HomeBASE is a state-funded program to help families in the EA Emergency Family Shelter system secure safe, long-term housing. It provides up to $30,000 over a two-year period, with the possibility of up to an additional $15,000 for a third year of help. JFS has been working with refugees and immigrants for 45 years and has committed to helping 25 families in the EAEF Shelter system find housing while also providing additional support so they can secure gainful employment and work towards self-sufficiency. JFS is already partnering with numerous landlords across Massachusetts who are enjoying the benefits of working with JFS and HomeBASE.

Here are the benefits you can expect when you partner with JFS and HomeBASE:

  • JFS case managers work one on one with client families to explain expectations, answer questions and address concerns so landlords can feel confident that their property is in good hands.
  • JFS is the point of contact for any concerns the landlord may have for up to one year.
  • Landlords enjoy guaranteed rent payments for the duration of the lease.
  • Landlords can receive up to one month’s rent for joining the HomeBASE program.
  • Landlords can feel good that they are helping a newly arrived refugee family as they work towards self-sufficiency.
