Siemer Institute Awards Family Promise $1.5 Million Grant for Family Stability

    June 26, 2024

The Siemer Institute recently awarded Family Promise a $1.5 million grant over three years to bolster its family stabilization programming in five crucial locations that have high child poverty rates. The funding will be distributed to Family Promise sites in Las Vegas, NV; Elizabeth, NJ; Lawrence, KS; Salem, OR; and Spokane, WA.

“The Siemer Institute’s commitment to investing in the potential of children and families aligns perfectly with our mission at Family Promise,” said Family Promise CEO Cheryl Schuch. “Our focus is to keep families across the country stably housed, which leads to better health outcomes, positive youth development, and community well-being.”

Family Promise will use the grant funding to strengthen an already robust range of stabilization programming that ensures a whole-family approach and includes housing support and financial capability training. The funding will also empower Family Promise sites to pilot new programs that are unique to their respective regions. Programming will impact hundreds of families while also allowing Family Promise to be part of the Siemer Institute’s national community of partners creating thriving families.

Since its establishment in 2011, the Siemer Institute has developed partnerships around the United States, impacting over 130,000 families and benefiting nearly 300,000 children.  By focusing on a two-generation approach, the institute aims for thriving families and connected communities.

“We are excited to partner with Family Promise and support their vital work in family stabilization,” said Kimberly Dorniden, President & National Executive Director of the Siemer Institute. “Family Promise’s comprehensive approach to preventing unplanned moves and promoting family stability aligns seamlessly with our mission. Through this collaboration, we aim to enhance our collective impact, providing essential resources and support to help families achieve lasting stability and children succeed academically.”
